This Didn't Work

Why are there timers on cameras? When Bapa was visiting this last week, we went out to do some pictures. This is the result of the 10 second timer on my camera. I love my tripod, it's great! The timer part, we'll have to work on that. Imagine what we would have gotten if I used the 3 second timer! More posts about this past week will follow.

Walking Sticks

Do you like walking sticks? We do! We commonly feed them to the chickens (they love them!). None of the girls are scared of them. In fact, they talk about how they tickle and how sticky their little feet are.
We went outside the other day to feed the birds and everyone came along. Diva gasped, looking up at the brick. Quickly all of our eyes were drawn upward as well. They were freaking out. You know like little girls do, they sure know how to shriek when it's needed. And, indeed it was needed! This is what we found

This is not your average walking stick. It's a walking branch! That's my shoe. Yes, it was as big as my shoe, no photoshopping here. I got a stool and brought it down. It was firm yet squishy. Kinda gross but really cool all at the same time. None of the girls would touch it. I carried it out to one of the trees in the yard. Hopefully it is still happy.

We are bound to find more down on the farm. I wonder how big they can actually get. What is the biggest walking stick (or branch) you've ever seen?

Diva's New Smile

Big Daddy and I are quite firm about some rules. Like when bike riding, skating or riding a scooter, you must wear your helmet. Sure, we survived our childhood without helmets but we do see their worth.

Diva knows the rules. Some time ago while at our last duty station, Diva picked up a neighbor kids scooter and road around the street. While riding, she bumped into the curb and went splat! Face first into the curb where the scooter stopped. She had a bloody lip and chipped her tooth. The dentist wasn't too concerned and stated that the orthodontist could even out her smile by filing it down. Well, orthodontia was years away but ok.

Diva had her 6 month check up and cleaning with a new dentist who said he would like to fix it by bonding it. Yay!! He wasn't worried about the tooth. He was worried that she is starting 7th grade, and as he said, "Kids can be mean. Let's give her back her confidence." She really never lacked any confidence or was shy about her tooth but I am glad he fixed it.

I'm glad her smile has been restored. And the dentist is right, Kids can be pretty mean.

We DO buy shampoo by the gallon

Look at these four beautiful girls! They love shampoo and we do go through plenty. I decided about a year ago that Sally Beauty Supply was really worth the trip when it came down to the purchase of shampoo. We have started this new blog allowing it to be public. I don't blog when I have to use a private listing. I don't quite know why. I like to rant when I need to rant. I like to share recipes. I like to boast about how great my kids are. I like my life and I want to share it with the world.

That brings us to this. . . a public blog that can be searched and found but hopefully not too much identifying information. From this time forward all the family members will be referred to with "pet names." You can see all of our pet names in the sidebar.

The kids did help with the names and I think everyone is happy with their choices. So, here's to a new blog. One I can post whatever I want or need to.
